 Our Team

  • When James joined us in 2011, he brought with him a rich background in management, having already overseen a team of over 50 employees in manufacturing operations by the time he was just twenty-six. With his MCIPS accreditation under his belt, James quickly made an impact as our Operations Manager and was promoted to Director just four years later. Today, he’s our Lead Director, guiding our team with a steady hand and a wealth of experience.

  • Phil came to us with an impressive background, having managed manufacturing processes and outputs across the automotive, rail, and energy sectors. His most recent role was as Head of Manufacturing for Oxford Instruments Nano Science, and we feel lucky to have him bringing that same level of expertise and dedication to our team. In addition to his proficiency in business operations, Phil also brings great enthusiasm and creativity to planning and organising our company events.

  • Ian is our go-to expert for all things powder coating, wet paint, assembly, and testing. Since joining us in 2020, after a long stint at Triumph Motorcycles Ltd, where he helped set up their latest overseas coating plants, Ian has been a vital part of our team. His deep knowledge and passion shine through in his work, especially when it comes to crafting specialist solutions with a meticulous focus on process and quality control.

  • Nick’s credentials are invaluable to our team. He has a PhD in polymer chemistry and a recently awarded Fellowship from the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (IoM3). For over nine years Nick has been pushing the boundaries of surface treatments, primarily for the automotive industry. His innovative work led to the creation of adhesive-free PowderBondPP, and he’s the inventor on six patents, including those for anti-stain coatings and in-mould coating of plastics. Simply put, he is a huge asset to our team.

  • As our Marketing & Sales Manager, Jimmy brings a wealth of experience in marketing and commercial roles for technical and scientific companies. He has a clear ability to engage with and anticipate customer needs, making him highly effective in the world of marketing. With a gift for communicating complex technical ideas, Jimmy excels at making intricate concepts accessible and engaging to our clients.

  • Andrew is all about efficiency and quality. With his training in LEAN methodology and Six Sigma principles, he quickly embraced the role of Production Manager here at Powdertech Surface Science. Andrew’s knack for managing complex production operations and strong people skills ensures that every product leaving our facility meets the highest standards.

  • Ben has brought a wealth of experience from his previous position where he was working as the alloy production and processing lead, overseeing the end-to end process from casting, processing to monitoring day to day operational tasks. Ben also has a great deal of experience in systems and software writing and and made significant Lean and 5s improvements with the introduction of new systems and software.

  • Vrinda joins us with a master's programme from the prestigious Adam Smith Business School, University of Glasgow and experience in marketing both in India and Scotland. Before moving to the UK, Vrinda transitioned from finance to marketing and business development, wanting a role that better suited her creative instincts. Vrinda is an enthusiastic soul, keen to take a result-driven approach to marketing at Powdertech.

  • Stuart has been part of our team for over 20 years, initially as a powder coating operative and now as part of the engineering team. He adds valuable experience to our projects and is a key part of delivering our INTRICOAT service for complex machined components. Always keen to seek out best practice in efficiency, Stuart has introduced the first robot to our production capacity.

  • Richard came on board from leading engineering firm, SPIRAC, where he was Project Coordinator. In this role, he gained valuable experience in project planning and customer service management. With a degree in Motorsport and Performance Engineering, Richard has always been focused on engineering project work, and his specialized background allows him to understand and address the unique challenges faced by our clients in this sector.

  • Paul is our meticulous Quality Engineer, ensuring that every step in every process meets strict quality controls. With valuable experience as a line supervisor at Lear, Paul keeps a close eye on everything from pre-treatment processes to daily testing of samples. Whether it’s gloss, adhesion, or colour levels, Paul makes sure that every element is consistent and up to our exacting standards.

  • Marion’s career journey is anything but typical. Her early days were spent as a trainee hairdresser, before running print machines for IBM, followed by driving HGVs at Heathrow. She found her niche in administration within the motor trade, and today she is a key asset to our own office administration, bringing with her an impressive breadth of skills and a wealth of experience.

  • Following a science degree, Juliet studied Information Science and Marketing, and then honed her skills as a marketing consultant initially for British Telecom International and then for Government-led initiatives and London-based technical companies. Today, she specializes in crafting and executing marketing strategies tailored to the unique needs of companies in the science and technology sectors.
